Calpernia is the prophet whose teachings served as the foundation for the formation of the Calpernian faith, which became one of the dominant religions of Tane. She was said to be the prophet and daughter of God, the being whom Calpernians worship.

Calpernia was a woman who rose to greatness as a prophet, war leader and religious icon.

According to Katholian scholars, Calpernia's mother Velia was a Tiber noble woman who fled her homeland to escape an arranged marriage. While stumbling through the forests of northeastern Endor, she was discovered by a tribe of humans led by a man named Búadach. Soon, she was taken in by Búadach and was discovered to be pregnant with Calpernia by the tribe's healer.
